I am a happy, happy girl today. After many complaints and not so happy family members (myself included), my PawPaw has decided that we are definitely going to be having a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Eeeek! I'm so thrilled. I volunteered my granddaughter help early Thursday morning. Last summer, my PawPaw spent about a month an a half in three different hospitals. My grandfather is very accident prone and this incident took the cake. He fell off (well, more like slid down) an eight foot ladder and landed on his rear end, crushing his bottom two vertebrae.
He went to Orville hospital, where after x-rays, some stupid nurse released him. He went home and collapsed twice from the pain, and was rushed back to the hospital. After more x-rays, the doctors told him his problem was too big for them and sent him off to Chico. The doctors there said the same thing, and he was air lifted to San Francisco State University Hospital. He had reconstructive surgery and then had intensive therapy. He's doing well, for being 75 years old.
But because of his back problems, there was no way he could make a turkey and carry it and all that. So, today or tomorrow I'm going to call my cousins and make sure there going to be around to help. This is going to have to be more of our effort this time, and I don't mind one bit.
I'm so excited. I couldn't imagine having Thanksgiving without the traditional dinner.
