Well, she was. But the real, real reason she was at my house was because her boyfriend decided to just kick her out of his car and leave her to walk home with no shoes or sweatshirt. When she was telling my the story, he was calling her over and over again. I told her not to worry, just let me talk to him. So, I called him back.
Needless to say, he was not thrilled I was calling and not his girlfriend. He tried to act all big and bad, cursing at me and screaming his pretty little head off. Like that was going to make me hand over the phone. I kept answering for maybe a half an hour.
He'd hang up and call back. I'd answer, he'd scream profanities and hang up. It was so funny. I'd just answer her phone and ask "Are you calm yet?" and this kid would lose it! I finally told him if he wanted to chat, meet me in front of my house. My friend Dorry always said to take your problems to the lawn and duke it out there. I thought, lets do that. I'll flag you down, whatever. I didn't really expect him to show up, but low and behold...
I just want to say this kid just looked like a douchebag. He walked up to me, no introduction of his name, and demanded to see his girlfriend. For me, that set the tone. I told him:
a.) whats your name
b.) you might talk to her after you and I share some words
c.) section B will be decided if and when if I see fit
Oh yeah. We shared some very pretty words. But I'll be damned if some 20 year old douchebag thinks its okay to just throw his girlfriend out on the curb, talk to a complete stranger the way he did and then think he's coming over to pick her up and not talk to me.
I guess I done my parent's proud. They (along with my brother and this girl) all stood in our front window and watched me tear this kid apart. He showed up all big and bad, but after hearing what I had to say, he wasn't as cocky. After a half an hour or so I went in and asked his girlfriend if she wanted to talk to him, so she went out. The walked across the street and talked for an hour and a half. I sat on the porch the entire time for a reason.
I was not going to let him be outside alone with her because she if significantly smaller than he is, and he made the mistake of telling me that he has to physically carry her to his car when they get in arguments. Sure enough, she turned to walk away from him and he shot up going after her. I started yelling at this kid telling him he was done, she walked away, he needed to leave. He made it halfway up my driveway before he saw me. He turned and left.
It was a very interesting night. Very interesting. I had never called someone out like that and invited them over to my house to chat it out, but I'm glad I did. It was kind of empowering.
I took it to the lawn. And won. Haha.
